Casino Barcelona: What to Know Before You Visit

Casino Barcelona fits a Barcelona city break well when you plan around the game you want and the journey home. Traditional tables currently start at 4pm, while late sessions can outlast the metro on several nights of the week.

Bottom line

A strong waterfront stop if you arrive for the right game and plan the trip back.

For traditional tables, 4pm or later is the useful default. Poker starts earlier under the normal schedule. If you stay very late, transport matters as much as the casino hours.

Late-night transport

The return journey changes by night

  1. 1

    Monday to Thursday

TMB normally closes the metro at midnight. A late table session therefore needs a night-bus or taxi plan.

  2. 2

    Friday

Metro service normally runs until 2am, still earlier than the current table and poker closing times.

  3. 3

    Saturday night

The metro normally runs continuously from Saturday into Sunday, making a very late session easier to combine with public transport.

  4. 4

    Special-service nights

TMB can extend service for major city events. Check the current operating-hours page rather than assuming the usual pattern.

Casino Barcelona is most useful when you treat it as part of the evening rather than as a standalone attraction. Its Port Olímpic location works well with the waterfront, and the venue stays active late. The catch is that the casino’s different products run on different clocks.

Who is this casino a good fit for?

It makes sense for a visitor already spending time around Port Olímpic, Vila Olímpica or the seafront; for someone who wants a casino reachable by public transport; and for poker travellers who have checked the current event or cash schedule.

It is less useful if your main goal is comparing several casinos in one city. Barcelona is essentially a one-main-casino destination, whereas Madrid gives you more materially different choices.

What time would we arrive?

If traditional live tables are the reason for going, we would plan for 4pm or later. That is when the current traditional-table window begins. Cash poker normally starts at 2pm, while slots are currently available around the clock.

This is more useful than the headline “24 hours” because it tells you when the product you actually want is available.

What can stop a tourist at the door?

The casino requires visitors to be over 18 and to present original identification. EU citizens can currently use an original national ID card or passport. Other international tourists should check the operator’s category that applies to them; for many visitors, an original passport is the simplest low-risk choice.

The dress code is relatively relaxed but not beachwear-relaxed. Trainers and sportswear are currently allowed, while flip-flops, espadrilles, swimwear, some sleeveless tops, large backpacks and motorcycle helmets are restricted.

The late-night issue most guides miss

The casino can remain open long after the easiest metro journey home has disappeared. TMB normally publishes midnight metro closing Monday to Thursday, 2am on Friday and continuous service on Saturday night.

Casino Barcelona’s traditional tables currently run until 5am and normal cash poker until 6am. That gap matters. On several nights of the week, a late session means planning around the night buses or taxi rather than assuming the metro will still be running.

What is worth rechecking on the day?

  • The exact table or poker schedule you want.
  • Any temporary festival-period extension.
  • Your original identification.
  • The live TMB timetable if you intend to stay after midnight.
  • Your clothing if you have spent the day at the beach.

Our practical take

For a normal Barcelona city break, the casino’s strongest feature is convenience rather than exclusivity: one clear waterfront venue, late gaming, free current general admission and several transport options. The most important planning decision is therefore not “Is Casino Barcelona good?” but “Does its timing and location fit the evening I am already planning?”
