Spain Casino Road Trip: Three Regional Itineraries

By Clara M.

A Spain casino road trip works best when the venues fit a regional journey you would enjoy in daylight. Three manageable starting points are Barcelona–Lloret de Mar–Peralada, Valencia–Alicante and Benalmádena–Marbella. Each offers a different sequence of city, coast and overnight stops.

The itineraries below include the night after the final casino visit. Driving times depend on your exact hotels, travel date and route, so check those legs before booking. The suggested night counts describe a comfortable structure, not a timed driving challenge.

Choose the route before hiring the car

Three regional routes and their overnight structure
RouteSuggested nightsHow to divide the stay
Barcelona → Lloret de Mar → Peralada3, or 4 with a final return-positioning nightOne night in Barcelona, one in Lloret and one near Peralada; add a night near your departure point if needed
Valencia → Alicante2–3At least one night in each city; give the extra night to the city where you want more daytime time
Benalmádena → Marbella2–3One night around Torrequebrada and one near the Marbella venue; use a third night for the coast or departure logistics

If your flights or trains leave only two nights in Catalonia, reduce the number of venues. If you want one city hotel and one casino evening, the casino weekend-break formats are a closer fit.

Route 1: Barcelona, Lloret de Mar and Peralada

Use this route when: you want to move from Barcelona to the Costa Brava and then inland. It is the route here with the most changes of hotel, so each stop should earn its place through the wider trip.

Night 1: keep the Barcelona visit within the city

Arrive, leave luggage at the hotel and treat the first evening as optional if travel has taken longer than expected. Casino Barcelona is at Port Olímpic. Choose a city base that also suits the following morning, rather than driving to a regional hotel after the visit.

If the car is only needed for the next two stops, compare collecting it when leaving Barcelona with paying for an additional rental day and city parking. That is a quote-based decision: an airport pickup may have different terms from a city office, and late collection needs to match the office hours.

Night 2: move to Lloret before the evening

Travel to Lloret de Mar during the day, check in and leave room for time away from the casino. Gran Casino Costa Brava is on Avinguda de la Vila de Tossa. Its published traditional-table opening time is 7 pm; the earlier opening of the slots area does not make it an afternoon table-game stop.

Keep the night in Lloret if this is your evening venue. A late visit followed by packing, checking out and continuing to Peralada is an unnecessary complication. Use the following day for that move.

Night 3: finish near Peralada

Continue to Peralada and choose accommodation there or around nearby Figueres, after checking the actual evening return route. Casino Perelada publishes traditional-table opening from 6 pm. An arrival earlier in the day therefore leaves time to settle in before deciding how to spend the evening.

The important booking is the overnight after this stop. Staying around Peralada gives the route a proper finish; it does not automatically make a next-morning flight from Barcelona convenient.

Day 4: allow for the return journey

Check the journey from the final hotel to your departure point, including rental return, refuelling and the carrier’s arrival requirements. If the flight is early, either move the final casino visit earlier in the trip or add a fourth night near the departure point. An early flight should not depend on a long overnight drive.

Shorten it: choose Barcelona plus either Lloret or Peralada for a two-night trip. That preserves time in both places and removes one hotel change.

Route 2: Valencia and Alicante

Use this route when: both cities interest you and you want a single daytime move between them. The regional casino directory helps distinguish their settings: Valencia’s venue is on Cortes Valencianas, while Alicante’s is at the marina.

First stay: Valencia

Plan the first night in Valencia, with the hotel area chosen for either the city visit or repeated access to the casino. Casino CIRSA Valencia publishes table games and cash poker from 2 pm. That permits an afternoon visit if you would rather keep dinner and the evening separate; a listed poker opening time does not guarantee a seat in a running game.

For a three-night route, two nights here give you a full day without checking out. Alternatively, keep one night in Valencia and put the extra night in Alicante. Choose between them on the basis of the daytime plans, not an assumed need to spend equal time at each casino.

Second stay: Alicante

Make the transfer after checking out, then settle into the Alicante hotel before visiting the marina. Casino Mediterráneo Alicante currently lists table games from noon. The visit can therefore sit within the afternoon as well as the evening, subject to the particular game being available.

Keep that night in Alicante and depart the following day. If your journey home starts in Valencia, include the return leg when comparing transport costs and departure times. A two-city route with a return transfer is a different booking from arriving in one city and leaving from the other.

Car decision: a hire car is useful only if it improves the wider route. If you want just the two urban stops, compare a current public-transport itinerary with the full rental quote, parking and hotel access. For a one-way rental, obtain the actual return fee and office hours before treating it as the simpler option.

Route 3: Torrequebrada and Marbella

Use this route when: your trip already includes this part of the Costa del Sol. Torrequebrada is in Benalmádena; the Marbella venue is in the Hard Rock Hotel Marbella building in Nueva Andalucía. They are separate stops along the coast.

Night 1: Benalmádena

Settle into accommodation around Torrequebrada or elsewhere in Benalmádena, with the return journey checked before the evening. Gran Madrid Casino Torrequebrada publishes table opening from 8 pm. Keep the daytime for the coast and arrange dinner around the time you actually intend to arrive.

Night 2: move west before visiting Casino Marbella

Check out and make the daytime move towards Nueva Andalucía or Puerto Banús. Casino Marbella lists its main gaming room from 8 pm; its earlier-opening slots area has a separate schedule. Booking a room in Marbella old town creates a further local transfer to this particular venue.

Stay locally after the second visit and make the departure transfer the next day. A third night can provide more time on the coast or put you closer to your departure point, depending on the booking.

One hotel or two? Moving hotels brings each overnight nearer its evening venue. Keeping one base removes a checkout but adds a return journey for the other casino. Compare the actual transfers before deciding. The Costa del Sol destination guide covers the two local settings.

Make the route ready to book

Price the trip as accommodation, intercity transport, local evening transport and a separate entertainment allowance. Include hotel parking and rental return terms where relevant. Do not offset travel costs against expected casino winnings.

Before committing, put each overnight and the final departure into the same itinerary. Check current driving directions for the chosen hotels, then check the casino’s schedule for the game you want. The times above were checked in September 2026; special dates and operating changes can affect a visit.

Use the casino accommodation-area guide to narrow the hotel search. For an unfamiliar venue, review the first-visit checklist before departure, so access requirements do not become a problem after the driving is done.
