Do Casinos in Spain Charge an Entry Fee?

By Clara M.

There is no useful national answer. Barcelona and Mallorca currently publish free admission, Alicante charges €5 after 3pm, and Valencia has a €15 late-night access window on certain days.

The cost answer

Check the venue and the arrival time.

The fee can be zero at one casino and time-dependent at another. Do not budget from a generic Spain-wide assumption.

Casino admission in Spain is a venue-level fact, not a national price. Current policies show free entry, a daytime/evening price change and a specific late-night access fee. That is enough variation to make any blanket “Spanish casinos are free” statement unreliable.

Barcelona: currently free general admission

Casino Barcelona’s current FAQ states that admission is free. Visitors still pass admission control and must meet age, ID and dress requirements.

Alicante: the clock changes the price

Casino Mediterráneo Alicante currently publishes free admission from 10am to 3pm and €5 admission from 3pm until closing. This is a clean example of why arrival time belongs in the answer.

Valencia: the unusual fee is very late at night

Casino CIRSA Valencia currently charges €15 from 4am to 8am on Friday, Saturday and the eve of public holidays. The published fee includes admission and a non-alcoholic drink and does not apply to Club Winner members.

That is not the same as saying “Valencia costs €15 to enter”. Most of the day uses a different access situation.

Mallorca: currently free admission

Casino Mallorca’s FAQ says entry is free. Again, free does not remove the passport/ID or dress requirements.

What an entry fee may — and may not — include

Do not assume that a fee is gaming credit. Valencia explicitly describes its late-night charge as admission plus a non-alcoholic drink. Other venues can structure admission differently.

How to budget correctly

Check the fee only after you know the casino and the planned arrival time. Then keep that cost separate from your gaming budget. Admission is a travel/entertainment cost; it should not become a reason to play longer because you already “paid to get in”.
